It all begins with…
…an idea. Nothing in this world is more powerful than an idea. Nothing begins or ends without an idea. Business, construction, despair, destruction, entertainment, hope, innovation, progress, religion, and even life.
“I have another idea!”
Anyone that has known me for any amount of time, from minutes to years, has heard me say this probably more times than they can count. If you were to ask me, the more ideas you have, the better your ideas will become. This holds true no matter what the goal of your ideas is.
Here is some advice I have for anyone who has ideas:
1) Realize that there is nothing wrong with having a million ideas. Especially a million bad ones. Rarely, does one hit the jackpot on the first pull. The same can be said for ideas. I believe that the more failed ideas you have, the better the chances are that you will learn how to evolve your new ideas and innovate.
2) Never let someone tell you to stop coming up with ideas. I do not care how off-the-wall, silly, ridiculous, or awesome your ideas are. Do not let anyone stop you!
3) Do not give up. If you give up, even if one idea after another fails, you will not succeed. There are any number of clichés out there that stress this point. This may be the most important advice there is.
Take this blog for instance. At the end of 2008, I bought this domain and setup a phpBB3 forum. My intention was to create a place where people with ideas could meet, discuss, and find information to help them pursue their dreams. This seemed like a daunting task. My idea had merit, but I had no idea how or where to start.
In the end, my forum became a haven for global spam accounts. Luckily, restrictions were in place and nothing detrimental was posted, but the lesson was learned.
Now it is 2010, at least 100 ideas later, and fueled with the same crazy ambition and energy that I had in 2008, I am breathing new life into www.MakeABuckFoundation.com.
I hope that you will join me on this journey. Laugh, be curious, offer opinions, collaborate, have fun, but most of all do not try to discourage me.
It won’t work. Trust me.
